
Kathy Tissington, NP
Kathy completed her Bachelor of Nursing with Distinction in 2000 from the University of Calgary. Her early career was spent in the Emergency Department, where she completed her Advanced Studies in Critical Care Nursing certificate through Mount Royal University. She decided to switch her focus from critical care to primary care and prevention and to become a Nurse Practitioner. She graduated from Athabasca University with her Masters in Advanced Nursing Practice in 2010 as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has been practicing in the Primary Care setting ever since. Kathy was involved in starting and working at one of the first Nurse Practitioner led primary care clinics in Alberta. While caring for her patients in primary care, she realized she needed more tools to assist patients to reach their optimal health, this is when her interest in functional medicine started.
Having completed advanced training through the Institute for Functional Medicine and the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, Kathy is committed to continuous learning and staying up-to-date with the latest research and therapies. With a strong foundation in evidence-based practices, she offers a holistic approach to health and wellness, blending traditional and functional medicine approaches to support each patient’s unique needs.
Kathy is an advocate for personalized, patient-centered care, she works closely with individuals to create customized treatment plans that address root causes of health concerns, rather than just symptoms. Kathy works on cultivating compassionate, trusting relationships with patients while offering education and unwavering support throughout their healthcare journey to achieve optimal health and wellness. Areas of special interest include support for hormone imbalances (both women and men) and optimization, fertility, gut health, weight management, and longevity medicine. Kathy is here to guide you toward a healthier, more fulfilling life.
Kathy is a member in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta and the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives. Kathy is also a member of the North American Menopause Society (The Menopause Society). Kathy works with patients of all ages.
